Water Tank are of two types: one is underground and another is overhead. According to Vaastu-shastra, an underground water tank behaves in different way than the overhead. So, there are different principles for each type of water tank.

Vaastu Tips for Overhead Water Tank

An overhead water tank is one which is placed on roof of the house. Means it puts the heavy load on the part where it is placed. That’s why it’s important is to put it in the proper area according to Vaastu.

Here is what it means:

• Best to place for Overhead tank is Southwest or West part of the roof
• In rare cases it can be located in the 4^th Pada of South direction
• Never put it in the Northeast as it makes Northeast heavy
• Don’t place in Southeast this may results in loss of wealth and leads to accidents
• Never place in the center of house [Brahmsthan]

Apart from all this, here are more Vaastu tips for overhead tank.

• Always Keep Southwest and South tank on a platform which is 1-2 feet upper than the roof.
• For this tank in West you can place the tank on the roof.
• Paint the tank with black or Pink color
• Keep the tank always covered
• Clean them regularly

• Avoid using plastic tanks 
• Never place the tank exact above a kitchen or bed of the bedroom

 Underground Water tank Tips

An underground water tank is built by digging in the ground. Means it creates a depression in that area wherever it’s created. So, it’s very important to construct underground tank in the Vaastu permitted area or areas only as per Vaastu shastra. 

Here is what it means:   

• Locate the underground tank in Northeast area of the house or Plot.
• It can be in the North direction also
• Underground tank can be located in 5^th pada in West direction
